About the project: Tackling microaggressions in schools
This national training programme was developed by young people who wanted to challenge everyday racism and exclusion in education. Drawing on their lived experiences and peer research, they created a toolkit and training model to help schools understand, recognise and respond to microaggressions.
Delivered by trained youth facilitators, the workshops reached teachers, senior leaders and safeguarding staff across the country. Sessions combined case studies, film, role-play and discussion, encouraging professionals to reflect on their own practice and learn practical steps to build more inclusive classrooms.
The project sparked policy reviews, school focused conversations and lasting changes to staff development. It’s helping set the standard for inclusive, youth-informed professional learning.
